Delayed presentation of emulsified subretinal silicone oil appearing as an inverse macular pseudohypopyon.

چکیده
T he use of silicone oil is well established in complex retinal detachment surgery, and it is still the most frequently used internal tamponade in the management of giant retinal tear. The common complications associated with silicone oil have been extensively described. Subretinal silicone oil is an infrequent but serious complication. The delayed presentation of subretinal silicone oil is uncommon and has previously been described in cases of retinal detachment associated with optic disc pit. We describe an unusual late complication of subretinal silicone oil presenting as an inverse macular pseudohypopyon in a patient successfully treated for giant retinal tear 25 years previously.

Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography of emulsified subretinal silicone oil presenting as a macular inverted pseudohypopyon.
The authors present a rare case of an inverted pseudohypopyon due to subretinal emulsified silicone oil in the macula of a patient who underwent pars plana vitrectomy surgery for repair of retinal detachment with proliferative vitreoretinopathy 1 year prior to presentation of this finding. The patient’s predisposing diagnosis is pathologic myopia.

servatively. Follow-up at 4 months showed spontaneous resolution of the subretinal fluid on optical coherence tomography (Figure 1C); visual acuity had returned to 6/60 OS but the macular hole remained open. Four months later, the patient’s vision remained stable but the subretinal fluid had returned. An inverse pseudohypopyon was visible at the macula (Figure 2), and optical coherence tomograp...

The left eye showed emulsified silicone oil in the anterior chamber and a posterior chamber intraocular lens. The fundus revealed a posterior staphyloma, attached retina and whitish emulsified silicone bubb...
متن کاملChoroidal neovascular membrane in Best's vitelliform macular dystrophy.
The right eye of a 9-year-old white boy with Best's vitelliform macular dystrophy had an intact egg-yolk lesion and a retinal pigment epithelial defect superiorly, suggesting an early pseudohypopyon stage. The disruptive phase of the left eye showed subretinal hemorrhages, a "signet ring," and a subretinal neovascular membrane.

PURPOSE To evaluate the effectiveness of silicone oil tamponade in patients with chronic serous retinal detachment (SRD) persisting for three months after the resolution of ocular inflammation. METHODS A total of 17 eyes of 17 patients diagnosed with chronic SRD persisting for three months after the resolution of ocular inflammation and with high risk of phthisis bulbi by secondary ocular hyp...
